Killing Time
(Riff Regan, Steve Voice)

Chalking marks up on the wall
Counting cracks down on the floor
Feeling all alone, no-one to call
Steely eye through a hole in the door
Watching clouds drift in the sky
Doing press-ups up and down
Reliving things in my mind’s eye
How I messed up all around

Killing time – is hard to do
Killing time – seeing it through
Killing time – I need my space
Killing time, killing time, killing time

Racing raindrops on the glass
Visit old haunts in my sleep
In a six by eight that's really sparse
You don’t choose the company you keep
Craving moments all alone
Reading letters from way back when
Dreaming dreams of going home
Count days till I'm free again

Killing time – is hard to do
Killing time – seeing it through
Killing time – I need my space
Killing time, killing time, killing time

Playing cards against myself
Sometimes I even win
All the same, I’m to blame
For this sorry state I’m in

And then comes the night, the long relentless night
More time to dream what might have been in another life

Centrefolds on the wall
Swedish, French and Dutch
Pin-up girls flashing it all
You can look but cannot touch
Hearing steps outside the door
As they switch out the light
The key is turned, to all concerned
You’re banged up for the night

Killing time – is hard to do
Killing time – seeing it through
Killing time – I need my space
Killing time, killing time, killing time

Chalking marks up on the wall
Counting cracks down on the floor
Feeling all alone, no-one to call
Steely eye through a hole in the door
Watching clouds drift in the sky
Doing press-ups up and down
Reliving things in my mind’s eye
How I messed up all around
